Peripheral Nerve Ultrasound

High resolution ultrasound used to visualize peripheral nerves via sound waves. This method provides key information on nerve damage severity, cause, and precise location.

It’s particularly valuable for diagnosing compression syndromes, polyneuropathies, and post traumatic or post surgical nerve injuries. The exam is carried out with advanced modern ultrasound machines.

You may need this exam if you experience:

  • Numbness or strange sensations in limbs
  • Altered heat/cold perception
  • Muscle weakness or atrophy
  • Night pain

These may indicate neurological issues and warrant specialist evaluation.

Common indications include:

  • Nerve trauma (crush, traction, tear, severance)
  • Neuropathies
  • Non traumatic acute or chronic nerve disorders
  • Benign nerve tumors (neuromas, schwannomas, etc.)
